The Data Access and Transparency Alliance (DATA) is a collaborative effort led by the commercial real estate industry and green building organizations to provide building operators with energy consumption data to advance energy-efficiency and energy cost savings in buildings. DATA is organized by the Institute for Market Transformation, the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International, the Real Estate Roundtable and the U.S. Green Building Council.

NASUCA passes resolution supporting whole-building energy data access for multifamily building owners.

The National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates (NASUCA) unanimously passed a resolution at its 2013 Annual Meeting supporting multifamily building owners getting access to whole-building energy data, as long as the privacy of tenants is protected. NASUCA calls on regulators and utilities to consider comprehensive energy benchmarking policy, including electronic access to data.

IMT and EEB Hub Publish Guide on Energy Data Access for Utilities

IMT and the Energy Efficient Buildings Hub published the nation’s most complete guide to utility energy data access programs that support benchmarking. Read the report.

Pepco Announces Energy Data Access Program for Building Owners

Pepco, the investor-owned electric utility serving the District of Columbia, launched its energy data access program for commercial and multifamily building owners in Feb. 2012. Read the announcement.

NARUC approves resolution calling for whole-building energy data access

The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) approved an energy efficiency resolution at its 2011 summer meeting encouraging state public utility commissions to support energy benchmarking in commercial buildings, and to aid building owners and managers in accessing whole-building energy consumption data for use in EPA’s Energy Star Portfolio Manager benchmarking tool.
